Blog Challenge Day 4: What am I afraid of?

Sharks.

I have other stuff that I'm afraid of (i.e. Getting my heart broken, losing people I love, Doctor Who being canceled...), but sharks are the big one. I hate the damn things. THEY HAUNT ME.

Just look at this GIF makes me want to go crawl into a cave and never leave. LOOK AT THOSE TEETH.

Blog Challenge Day 3: Favorite Quote

Blog Challenge Day Three is your favorite quote. This has given me quite a bit of anxiety because I can't pick just one. Words are such a powerful thing, and quotes are like words that are bottled up and easily found. There are so many quotes that means so much to me so I narrowed it down to three.

"To live would be an awfully big adventure."
Peter Pan

and

"I myself am entirely made out of flaws, stitched together with good intentions."
Augusten Burroughs

and

"On rare occasions there comes along a profound original, an odd little book that appears out of nowhere from the pen of some obscure storyteller, and once you have read it you will never go completely back to where you were before. This kind of book you may hesitate to lend for fear you might miss its company. This kind of book that echoes from the heart of some ancient knowing and whispers from time's forgotten cave that life maybe more that it seems, and less."

My royal and noble ancestors

When I was younger I always fantasized about a Royal family finding out that I was their long lost child that got kidnapped and put into an orphanage where my parents found me. And they swooped me up and BAM, I'm a princess. Now my dreams are far more realistic (like marrying Matt Smith), but little did I know that my princess dream? Not that far off from reality.

So I knew I was related to George Washington (this is evident by my fabulous leadership skills and inability to tell a lie) and Robert E. Lee, but apparently I am also a descendant of AUSTRALIA ROYALTY.

Oh yeah... royalty. This comes from my mother's side of the family, the Ryans (so I share this trait with Whaleton.) Isn't that cool?! I'm have royal blood!!

Oh, you think I'm done?
Nope. Sit back down because there is more.
Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time... There was a noble family with lots of sons. The family, being in the good graces of the king of France at that time, was given large tracts of land in the French Canadian district. Each son was given land and large amounts of money as part of their inheritance and their noble blood. One of the sons fell in love with a beautiful girl (okay I don't know if she was beautiful, but I'm take poetic license on this story.) Anyway....The girl was a peasant. This meant, that being of noble blood, the son could not marry her without giving up his title and all his money and land. And because he was madly in love with this beautiful peasant girl, he did just that. He married her and became poor, while the rest of his family remained rich and titled.

And guess from which son my dad's family is decent from?
Yoooooooou guessed it! The poor one!!
I really hope that that guy REALLY loved that girl. Oh well, all's fair in love and war.
Oh and speaking of war... because he wasn't a noble, it meant when the French Revolution came around, he didn't lose his head. So at least he had that going for him.
But yeah, I'm an Australian Princess and a French Noble. (Okay not REALLY, but its fun to pretend.)

Thoughts while watching Into The Woods

I have been SO excited to see this movie ever since I saw the trailer. Its a Disney Musical with lots of famous people!! Whats not to love? Well, a lot, as it turns out. But anyway we'll get to that later. First the cast.

Meryl Streep as The witch who is seriously confusing everyone about which side she's on.
Anna Kendrick as The only redeeming factor of this movie.
Emily Blunt as The baker's wife who apparently has a thing for princes.
James Corden as Craig Owen (because lets face it, its almost the exact same storyline.)
Chris Pine as the prince to end all princes (and not in a good way...)
Johnny Depp as The Wolf who really needs to rephrase his one song.
Daniel Huttlestone as That little kid from Les Miz, with Justin Bieber hair.
Lilla Crawford as A future serial killer (oh and Little Red Riding Hood.)

Thoughts
OK so what's happening? (We were ten minutes late because MIMI COULDN'T JUST ANSWER HER PHONE.)
Ooooooh, the music gives me chills.
Wait how many fairy tales are they squishing in here?
I'm pretty sure that if I could call birds to pick up lentils I would do it RIGHT AWAY. Instead of hopelessly pawing at the ground.
Wait isn't that....Hattie from Ella Enchanted? I would hate to be that actress....
Little Red Riding Hood is jerk...
Oh fertility problems. Okay. Was not expecting that.
Hellooooooo, Chris Pine.
Whoa. So Chris Pine is old.
Oh but his brother is cu--, annnnnnnd he's an idiot....
Yes, because ripping off your shirt is the definition of agony.
Oh this is hilarious. I wonder how long until I can watch this scene illegally online.
Why don't they just tell everyone why they need the stuff? I'm sure that they would just give it to them then.
So wait...Craig Owens now has a son and so that makes the son....Stormageddon. *gasp*
Yay!! Its a happily ever after for every--wait a second.
That was only an hour.
There's more.
So is this going to be Disney fairy tales or--
Oh, okay...this is dark stuff.
Wow...thats a giant wife...*snickers*
WAIT NO DON'T KISS HIM. YOU HAVE CRAIG OWENS AND ALF--I MEAN STORMAGEDDON.
And that is what happens when you kiss a terrible prince.
I'm bored.
Still bored.
OKAY NOW I SHIP CRAIG AND CINDERELLA.
Well at least the music was awesome.
This movie needs a new name....
I know, I know..I have terrible editing skills.
Other name suggestions: All Magic Comes With a Price, Be Careful What You Wish For, Don't Trust the Creepy Witch, All Princes Are Actually Jerks, and Magic is Better than Beauty.
Overall it was a good movie, though not GREAT. I do suggest going to see it though. The one scene with the two princes itself makes the whole thing worth it.
Kat
P.S. Funny thing happened at the movie theater. We were walking out and just tearing apart the movie, I mean just discussing every detail and debating it furiously, when the guy in front of us turns around and says, "So what... are you guys here for like school or something?"
And Mimi says, "Nope. We just like to dissect movies. Its our job in life as people."
That about sums us up.

Day Two of the Blog Challenge

So I can't sleep. Its 3am and I have to get up early tomorrow to bike to mass in the RAIN and I still can't sleep. I hate these nights of insomnia, they are getting more and more frequent and the best way to counter them is to do something that involves the mind. So thats why I'm writing a blog post at 3am.

So the challenge today is 20 facts about me.
I've already done this in another blog challenge so I will try as hard as I can not to repeat answers

  1. I have a genetic problem that makes it hard to tell left from right.
  2. I usually hate nail polish but for some reason I love painting my nails black.
  3. I'm more sensitive than I let on.
  4. I love the rain. Its raining now and it really comforts me.
  5. I once was in a concert as a guest and was given a dozen red roses and a standing ovation (I was like ten.)
  6. I'm a Ravenclaw.
  7. I'm a INFJ. (Which one makes up about 1-2% of the population.)
  8. I often dancing in my room by myself.
  9. When I was a kid I split my skull. Not a bad break, but a little crack.
  10. I'm currently homeschooled, but I might go to a public school for senior year.
  11. When I go to college, I am totally dying my hair some outrageous color just because I can.
  12. I want to get a degree in English, Medicine, Theatre, and Art History. I SHOOT FOR THE STARS SO IF I MISS I LAND ON THE MOON. Wait...I'm pretty sure thats not how it goes. Oh well... its 3:18am.
  13. I love all things Peter Pan.
  14. I love all things Pride and Prejudice.
  15. Right now the song, "the words" by Christina Perri really gets to me. Some songs just get me right in the feels and this song definitely does. (Thanks to Whaleton for reminding me of this great song. And for getting my the album for my birthday.)
  16. I GOT A NEW PUPPY NAMED STELLA AND SHE IS THE CUTEST THING THAT EVER LIVED. When she isn't chewing up my shoes...
  17. I'M STILL NOT TIRED.
  18. I think I might be coming down with a cold...
  19. Whaleton needs to give me the name of those sleeping pills so I can get a good nights rest for the first time in WEEKS.
  20. I give up.....
STILL NOT TIRED.

Blog Challenge Day One

So ANOTHER BLOG CHALLENGE YAY!!! Honestly these things make blogging so much easier because instead of THINKING up something it just gives it to me on a silver platter. Its every lazy girl's dream.

So day one..... Lets check the chart....
Introduction and recent photo

So hello, my name is Catherine or Kit Kat as I'm known on the blogging community. I'm a 15 (ALMOST 16) girl and I am the eldest of six kids. Yeah SIX. I know, I know.... Its a nightmare sometimes.
Anyway I'm a rather shy person, but there is little catch to that. There are certain people who if you said, "Catherine is a shy person" they would laugh in your face. There are just some people I can't be shy around. These people are rare and I've only met a few of them. And NONE OF THEM LIVE IN THE SAME STATE AS ME. Its a extremely frustrating thing... So the general idea is that I'm pretty shy. I also love books. Like LOVE books. Also music, movies, TV shows, tea and everything British. So I'm a typical geek girl. Nothing really special about me.
(EXCEPT MY ONE TALENT WHICH IS SPEED READING.)

So to paint a picture of me: I'm a bit of a loner, I can count all my close friends on one hand, I'm a quite a geek girl, I have extensive knowledge of random things and the one person you will see me referring to ALL THE TIME is Whaleton who is my cousin and one of my best friends. She is definitely the closest person to me. AND SHE LIVES IN ALABAMA. WHY LIFE? WHY?!?!?!

And now a real picture of me....
This is the only picture of me that doesn't make me lunge for the erase button...
This was part of one the best weeks of my life and this picture always makes me so happy. If I'm having a bad day this makes me smile.

Also a picture of Whaleton and me because she is a really important part of my life and this blog.

So there is that!! Yay thats over....

The Best Books released in 2014

A continuation of my "Best things that were released in 2014" post.
Books
I am a HUGE bookworm and I usually don't love newer books, but there were some really awesome ones this year.

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet-  Dude Icantrememberhisname
This books is a companion to the YouTube series "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries." And I know I've said this before, but...THIS IS A SERIOUSLY AWESOME YOUTUBE SERIES THAT ALL JANEITES WILL LOVE. Its really clever and the book is just as good and maybe better, because, while I love the YouTube series, its kinda forced because all the action has to happen on the camera (if you watch you'll understand what I'm saying) and the book is diary form so its a easier flow.

The Blood of Olympus- Rick Riordan  Awesome book...for people who don't mind terrible cliff hangers. Uncle Rick has done it again. A great book that makes you want to simultaneously hug him and beat him over the head with a baseball bat. I'm just going to assume for my sanity that all is well and NO TIME HAS PASSED AT ALL.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch "The magic within"- Tania del Rio
So technically this series started in 2013, but the last installment came out in 2014. This is a series I don't even remember how I got into, but its a really good manga version of my favorite teenage witch (besides Hermione.) And thats not a sentence I say a lot, being Catholic and all.

Ed Sheeran a visual journey-Ed Sheeran and Phillip Butah

My sister got this for me for Christmas and its a great book! I haven't finished it yet, but its a great inside look at one of my favorite artists.

So there is that. There weren't a lot of good books this year and I'm sure I've missed some, but this is the best I can do in the 12 minute time period in between laundry loads.

Words of Wisdom during a game of Jenga

Thanks to the great and powerful Wizard of Whales and Elton John, today a package came in the mail with Jenga, and the four eldest kids decided to sit down and play a game, which lead to some very interesting remarks and conversations. Which I wrote down.

"Guys don't wear undershirts under a dress shirt!! Because if they do that, when they unbutton the shirt you can't see our chest hair." (James, my TWELVE year old brother.)
*Laughter* *Lots and lots of laughter*
"You can only say that if you have chest hair, and you don't, so shut up." (Mary)
"I draw chest hair on with a sharpie." (James)

"YE DAFT DIMBO." (This was said so many times I lost track of who said it)

"DON'T DO IT JAMES DON'T DO IT" (Everyone)
*James does the thing*
"NOOOOOOOOOO" (Everyone)
"You chubby bunny......." (Everyone to James)

"Holy chipmunks..." (Mary)
"Chipmunks aren't holy." (Peter)
"But crab apples are." (James)
"WHAT?" (Me)

"I hope karma works THIS ONE TIME. You all need to die." (Mary. She's a violent person.)

"You need to destroy it. DES-STROY IT" (James to Peter.)

"Peter I'm counting on you. We are all counting on you. Don't mess this up. Don't die. If you lose Catherine wins and we can't have that." (James to Peter)
*Peter messes up and the tower goes crumbling down*
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." (Everyone but me)
"OH YESSSSS. I WON SUCKERS. VICTORY IS SWEET." (Me. I'm not a gracious winner.)
"Go chase a doughnut." (James)

New Years Resolutions

Okay so being honest here... The only reason I'm doing this is because Whaleton told me to do this so that we could start a 31 day blog challenge tomorrow because she is "too busy to start today."      -_-
Suuuuuuuuuure. I TOTALLY believe that....
Anyway so you can look forward to a 31 day blog challenge because I know my blog is the one light in all of your dreary lives and you LIVE to read a new post. I hear your cries and I answer them. So (hopefully) starting tomorrow, you will get a new post EVERYDAY.

Soooooo....New Years Resolutions....
I hate them.
Mostly because its ridiculous to assume you are actually going to keep them and they all end up being stupid things that you want to change but really can't. But they are a good way to take a look at your life and see the flaws so I'm changing it a little. Instead of New Years Resolutions its going to be....

New Years problems-with-my-life-that-I-would-like-to-fix-but-lets-be-honest-here-none-of-them-are-actually-getting-done.
  1. Get my work done faster and more efficiently.
  2. Keep my room cleaner. (Its far cleaner than an average teenager, but I would love to get wooden floors because its easier to clean than a carpet.)
  3. Answer emails promptly.
  4. Re-do my room.
  5. Get a job.
  6. Get a LICENSE.
  7. Maybe get a fashion sense. My "fashion sense" is jeans and a graphic tee.
  8. Be more honest and open with people.
And thats about it. Of course there are things that I am going to get done this year, but I know that I'm going to get them done and I wouldn't file them under New Year Resolutions, because its just asking for failure.
