Day Seven of the Blog Challenge

Day Seven: Your favorite childhood toy.

*rubs hands together*

This is going to be a long post....

*ahem*

So when I was a kid I had three favorite toys, two of which my mother so generously gave away. Without telling me. Just scooped them up and they were gone. Its was a very trying time for me.

ONE-           

   

A 1995 Bluebird Vintage Polly Pocket Cinderella Castle.
It cam with several figurines. I loved it. It was the best toy ever. It had so many tiny little spots and buttons and details that you could discover after owning it for years. It was adorable.

TWO-

Pounce the Cat. Pounce was the first Beanie Baby cat to be made of Ty-dyed fabric.

I've had her since I was born and she is sitting on my knee as I type. She is by far my favorite toy. It funny that my grandmother bought her exactly a week before she was discontinued.

THREE- A small dog toy that I really don't remember but I know I loved.

Well. So. Thats about it....

Its so awkward ending these things....

Day Six of the Blog Challenge

My birthday is March 24th

I am Aries. Here is a description of Aries that I got off the internet.

Its actually a lot longer than that, but I didn't bother reading all of it.

So the overall temperament of Aries is choleric, but naive and child like and have a great ability to bounce back and be unharmed by past experiences. This is like the polar opposite of me.

I am an extremely melancholy person, I'm not naive or trusting of any one and I am also very sensitive to insults and past experiences.

Whats really ridiculous is that Pisces describes me perfectly.

Mysterious and alluring individuals, most Pisces are extremely talented, but even though they are gifted in many ways, they still manage to spend most of their lives battling "confusing" conditions. Pisces is the sign symbolised by the image of two fish. Their symbol depicts one fish heading upward, the other pulling downward. This mirrors how Pisceans are frequently torn between two pathways in life, or actually do live two very different existences at the same time. 

Later it goes on the say that they have and "ivory tower" syndrome. Which is hilarious, because in my house I'm always being chided for spend to much time in my ivory tower (my room). They say this ALL THE TIME.

It also says Pisces live in worlds of fantasy, which I do. All. The. Time.

So I was born three days late.

Day Five of the Blog Challenge

Day Five: Your favorite comfort food and why.

FINALLY. A challenge that I will enjoy. 

FOOD. YESSS. *ahem* Lets begin, shall we?

I love lots of food so I shall narrow this down to about five or so foods.

ONE-Steak. Rare. My grandfather taught me the proper way the enjoy a steak is rare and I never forgot that. I always order rare. Even though most restaurants cook it medium.

TWO- Potatoes. Any way, except potato salad. That shit is just gross.

THREE- Pretty much any kind of meat. I love meat (its a vampire thing). But I really love lamb. Yeah, yeah I know. "Those poor little lambs, so sweet and innocent and YOU EAT THEM. GO TO HELL YOU EVIL MEAT EATER." But God gave us animals so that we could eat them, so I eat pretty much anything and hav no problems doing so. Except deer meat. I mean, ITS BAMBI OR HIS MOTHER. So yeah, no deer for me.

FOUR-Orzo. For those of you who don't know what orzo is, it is literally God's greatest gift to man. And I don't take the word,"literally" lightly. Its pasta that is shaped like rice, (confusing I know) and my grandmother has an amazing recipe that includes cooking it in broth, then mixing in TONS of Parmesan cheese and basil. I'm telling you, I would have that as my last meal on earth. Just orzo. Nothing else.

FIVE- Meatball sandwiches. And philly cheese steak sandwiches. Both are extremely good.

SIX- ANYTHING SWEET (except coconut). 'nuff said.

So there you have it. My list of comfort foods. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm very hungry....

Day Four: Your views on religion.

I think that everyone should find God and how they find Him and through the religion depends on them. I personally think that the Catholic faith is the easiest path, but that's just me.....

Day Two of the Blog Challenge

Since I was supposed to start this challenge a few days ago and I have it timed so that I will finish before I go to Choir Camp, I have to catch up. So I'll do a few challenges today. SO.... there is Day Two of the Blog Challenge!!!

Day Two: Where you'd like to be in ten years.  I'd like to have a college degree in teaching, literature and ancient history. And a good job. And maybe be married. Also I would like to have traveled the world and lived in many different cultures. There are so many things that I would like to do by then, like maybe play a small time role in a movie or something cool like that.

30 Day Blog Challenge.

So Day One: Your current relationship. If single, discuss being single.

I am single, (big surprise) and I am totally fine with it. I'm not ready for a relationship and I probably won't be for a long time. Sure there is a person with whom I would like to be in a relationship in the future, but that's a long way away. I think I would probably be the worst  girlfriend of all time. I don't think kids should have relationships until they are mature enough, so usually about 17. It all really depends on the people and the factors of the relationship.

The Fault in Our Stars book review

So if you are not living under rather a rock you have probably heard to John Green's The Fault in Our Stars. Because it is pretty hard to analyze a book with out spoilers, be warned: I will freely and willingly give out said spoilers. If you don't want them, then read the book and come back.

*Ahem*

So the basic plot of The Fault in Our Stars seems pretty simple from a person who hasn't yet read the book. Girl meets boy, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl are separated by cruel twist of fate. In normal, happy-ending books the plot ends with the boy and girl being united and pledging eternal love blah blah blah BORING. But that's whats different about The Fault in Our Stars, the ending is heartbreaking, tear jerking and just absolutely heartbreaking. Just read it, okay? Okay.

One part of the book I really loved was the letter that Augustus wrote Hazel at the end. It said:

She is so beautiful. You don’t get tired of looking at her. You never worry if she is smarter than you: You know she is. She is funny without ever being mean. I love her. I am so lucky to love her, Van Houten. You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, old man, but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices. I hope she likes hers.

If this doesn't hurt your heart then you are a robot.

Anyway the book is amazing. I find it kind of ironic that Van Houten (the author) is sorta like John Green, I mean they both wrote a sad book that tore peoples hearts in two. Granted John Green isn't a rude, annoying alcoholic SOB, but there are similarities.

One of the things I would like to address is the relationship between Hazel and Gus. So *spoilers* Gus dies at the end, but if he had lived would Hazel and he have a good, strong, healthy relationship? Lets break it down.
1- They loved each other, which happens to be a big part of if a relationship works out. Yeah I know, shocking right?
2-They were each others best friend first. This I find to be an essential part of a relationship, not that I've ever been in one... But moving on. Hazel and Gus could work out their problems better if they were friends first. As a good friend of mine once said, "Marriage is basically a really long friendship with responsibilities.... and sex." Not the exact wording, but you get the idea. Anyway I think that Augustus and Hazel would have had a good relationship inside their marriage. Now I'm not saying you have to marry your best friend to be happy, I'm just saying you should have a good, stable relationship first BEFORE you become Facebook offical.
3-They had the same interests and they were both smart people who could continue to keep the others attention for many years. One of the things that I loved about the book was that they had such funny and intelligent conversations about everyday things, such as eggs. I think that this is a necessary part in a marriage.
4- THEY WERE SO FREAKING ADORABLE TOGETHER.

So yeah, I think they would have worked out. IF JOHN GREEN HADN'T DESTROYED THAT POSSIBILITY.

So there is my review if The Fault in Our Stars.

The Book Thief review

Let me just start this off by telling you a story. 

After going to see The Fault in Our Stars movie with a few people including my mother, I mentioned that I would like to read the book If I Stay. Apparently there is a movie coming out and we saw the trailer before the movie. It looked good. Pretty basic story line. Girl meets boy. Girl and boy fall in love. Then girl and boy are separated by certain events. Only in this case the events that separate the girl and boy is that the girl falls into a coma after a car accident in which her entire family is killed. So as she is floating round as an almost-ghost, remembering her past and trying to decide to stay, her friends  are trying to wake her up. I thought it looked good. But as soon as I mentioned it my mother put her foot down. "You need to stop reading such sad books, it not good for you." Her exact words. I forget nothing. I was pretty bummed, (but then my cousin read it and told me it was a pretty awful book) and I started to read The Book Thief. Bad mistake. After reading it I realize that my mother was right. I have to stop reading so many sad books and The Book Thief is the saddest on of all.

If you open the book at any given point and begin to read, the first thing that strikes you is the style of the writing. It beautiful. The author pulls rarely used adjectives out of his word bag and mixes it with the most beautiful and haunting story. Add to that the rich characters and incredible message that no matter if you are a German or a Jew we are all people, The Book Thief captures your heart and holds in firmly for years to come. 

The story of a young girl living in Naxi Germany is one that is not usually seen. It's usually the persecuted Jew who gets the spot light in these books, but here a young girl grows up with a street full of interesting people, a Jew in her basement and a love for books. 

The ending of the book is a real heart breaker and I read it with a tears streaming down my face and sobs caught in my throat. I had to skip dinner because, as my cousin said so eloquently, my face looked like a big red button. I'm not going to give it away, for that you have to READ the book, but after reading it I realized that at I am a cryer. I always said that I never cried, that I was strong and things couldn't get to my easily, but now I realize that I have a sensitive heart and reading the sorrows of others just kills me.

So to rate this book from 1 to 10, I would give it a....

Because it is probably the best/saddest book I have ever read.

Yes. I know. I shouldn't be having ideas. They are very unhealthy.
